Marston's Smooth - Review
Marston's Smooth
We are back at Marston’s Brewery in Burton on Trent, that i have discussed in my previous post Marston's Pedigree. Today I will review Marston’s Smooth, another bitter. Ingredients are: Barley malt, yeast, English Golding, Fuggles, and Cascade hops. Marston’s Smooth color is amber, with thick white head, quite similar to one that appears on Guinness. Aroma is mostly caramel and butterscotch and little bit of floral notes at the end. Taste is quite similar to the aroma, Caramel malt and butterscotch notes are dominating with a very subtle bitterness from hops. Unfortunately beer doesn't have too much body, therefore, it is extremely watery, however, that’s how the brewer wanted it. There has to be a reason why it is called ,,smooth” and has only 3.6% of alcohol. Even though I like bitters very much I cannot rate Marston’s Smooth more than 2.5/5. Cheers!
