Autumn Hops

Hi Everyone 😺

As the leaves turn from green to yellow, orange and red we know that the Fall is here. There is no better time to enjoy a flavourful beer than on a late autumn afternoon. We aren't talking about flavourless summer swill, we're talking about the good stuff-the hoppy IPA. A local brewery near me has some interesting suds, many are packed full of hops and not for the faint of heart. Here is a mug which came in a gift set of Boneshaker.

The mug says it all, this is not an easy drinking beer. IPAs in general are best enjoyed in moderation, no chugging, shotgunning or funnels. One of these can get a decent buzz going and it's a terrific sipping beer. The can it comes in should be a fair warning that this is not for the faint of heart.

The skeleton riding a bicycle, the unfiltered label and the fact that this is a strong beer should imply that it won't fit most peoples pallets. Boneshaker is a classic hipster beer, I happen to enjoy one the odd time but was suckered in for the glass. The Amsterdam Brewery has many other labels and they also carry some other beers from around Ontario.

3 Speed is my favorite from the brewery, the price is fair and it has a light, mild taste. The Blonde is their classic beer, it's easy drinking with some flavour to it. Not a fan of the Raspberry Wheat beer, it's from another brewery anyways. The Big Wheel is a decent Amber beer for those who want more taste without going too hoppy.

In case you're wondering, these photos are not from the same night. The Autumn Hop Harvest Ale was a decent IPA, it has a unique almost sweet finish. The Space Invader IPA was just okay and the Fracture Imperial Pale Ale was the most intense beer I've ever had. Fracture is 9.1% and it is very hoppy, it was the first time I've ever had it and one of them is more than enough. It may even be better than the Boneshaker if you like manly beers.

We normally don't talk about beer here so this is a step out of the ordinary. @Crypticat doesn't like beer but she is a fan of fine Whiskey, we cannot leave a glass of it around unattended as she may knock it off the counter trying to sniff it.
