Sumbel - beer for a rainy day
Today it rained every few minutes for a good chunk of the day so I hid in the greenhouse and a porter seemed appropriate.
This one is called Sumbel and it is brewed by Ægir Bryggeri. Fun fact I found out with this occasion: in Norse mythology Ægir was a friend to the gods, a giant that brew beer in a cauldron gifted to him by Thor and Tyr and he threw parties for the gods.
It pours a rich, almost black, brown with a thin head. The aroma is as expected, roasted malts, some coffee and cocoa, some smoke maybe?
It is full of flavour. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, a bit of coffee. I like that it is not too sweet and not too bitter either.
It is a great porter, lovely balance and really easy to drink. At 4.7% having a few of these won't hurt too much.
Cheers guys!
Wow...looks rich! Thanks for sharing this beer!
Tastes like it looks as well, lovely porter!
Cheers!
yeah....love your beer post for real...
thanks...find time to check my posts too
This is a well made post. Thanks for it. See the results from this weeks #BeerSaturday later on today.....
Thank you!
Will check it out for sure!
Cheers! That opening in the can looks weird. How the hell did you open that?
Hey
That's how these cans are designed. The whole top lid comes off clean. Easier to drink straight from the can I guess.
I havent seen cans like these before either, curious if it's a common thing in Norway where the brewery is located.
Yeah, looks smart considering drinking from the can. Haven't seen it before.
