Bit off my normal beer selections, an unclassifiable ale. It is from Lagunita's Brewery though and they are hoppy bastards for the most part. Lets see how it is.

Lagunitas Brewing - Little Sumpin Sumpin

• Company Description: This special ale is something fairly new under the sun. It's got a lot of wheat, it's rich with hops, it finishes dry. We've watched with some amusement as the internet beer rating sites argues over how to 'classify' it. We're in the camp with Japhy Ryder when he declares to Ray Smith that "Comparisons are odious!" You ever notice how everything has to be today's version of yesterday's whatever. Well, whatEver. Sometimes we wonder what the world would be like if everything was perceived for what it is, and not what it reminds you of. The sun would rise everyday as if for the first time, you'd wake as if newly born, you'd see your lover next to you anew, the air would smell like flowers, work would be like the first day back in school, a beer would make your eyes roll back in your head in ecstasy... well, maybe not... but you get the idea. Way smooth and silky with a nice wheatly-esque-ish-ness. A truly unique style featuring a strong hop finish on a silky body. A hoppy pale wheat ale that is great for IPA fans but so smooth that the hefeweizen fans dig it too.

Presentation
This little babe comes in a 12 oz dark brown bottle, with a single main body label that covers about 60% of bottle. It has some retro art of a lovely lady and the beer name with the Lagunitas dog head logo snuck in there also. There are some typical beer related jargon on the sides but there is a bit of text wrapped around the border which I didn't read, pretty small for this old man's eyes. It is a Limited Release also.

The Beer

• Appearance: A slightly hazy golden colored liquid with a thick head of off-white foam, which stuck around for a while and left a lot of lacing.
• Aroma: Smelled of hops to me, slightly citrus odor.
• Taste/Mouthfeel: Has a moderate carbonation with a hoppy taste and dry finish. The brewery wants to say it is something unique but it tasted like most other Pale Ales which are on the hoppy side.
• Drinkability: It is a pretty easy drinker, even with the higher abv. It is a lighter beer so maybe more of a summer beer in my opinion.

Rating and Final Thoughts

I gave it a solid 3.5 on Untappd, I had 9 friend ratings averaging 3.72 and overall it has a 3.85 with ove 285K ratings (wow, that is a lot). So of course I was on the low side of most people but again, it is a pale ale, which are on the low side of my favorite beers. But that said, it wasn't that bad, I kind of liked it. Not super hoppy and a nice citrus taste.

So there you have it, a decent beer, and appears to be a VERY popular beer but then Lagunitas has a good reputation. I will be entering this in the Week 48 #beersaturday for sure. So be sure to head over there and give me some upvotes to help my chances of winning that contest.
