Bad effects of bleaching creams.
Skin toning is now a major desire for 95% of every black skinned person nowadays. Therefore the cream producing industries have devised means of helping people achieve that, Of which 98% of them do not have any idea of the adversities.
First of all, bleaching creams is a major way of achieving this. Bleaching soaps are also used but bleaching creams is widely anticipated amongst so many individuals worldwide. The first concerning issue is that, many dnt care or realize how these creams works to give them lighter skin. These bleaching creams works by reducing a pigment on the skin called melanin which causes the outer layer of the skin to darken. Doing this actually reduces the strength of the skin's outer layer making it vulnerable to any harsh condition.
One of these harsh conditions includes; sunburn, blisters, intensive redness, mild itching, skin cracking e.t.c.
It should be duely noted that when attempting to bleach the skin with the use of bleaching creams, the active ingredients should be checked. One of the popular active ingredients mostly used for bleaching creams is hydroquinone or mercury. It is a highly effective compound used to make bleaching creams. Though it's activeness is unique in achieving the desired lighter skin but in the same way, it's side effects can be very dangerous to the skin.
It(hydroquinone) has already been banned from most countries but it's yet to be(banned) from USA. Excessive use of any cream containing hydroquinone or mercury is risky, it cud lead to a very irritating sunburn, severe redness, skin cracking and if unlucky, skin cancer. It is always advised to check what ingredients a cream contains before usage.
Examples of body creams popular around our residence that should be watch out for, for hydroquinone are:
Carol white (including the soap or tube creams)
Carol tone (including the caro tone B.s.c)
Nova lite
Body treat (the orange one)
Skin light
Miss Caroline
Clair liss
Sivoclair
Lite & lovely e.t.c
These are few of them, the rest might not be mentioned. But if one is to use any of these creams under any circumstances, it should be done under extreme precaution or under a dermatologist's prescription. If any further problem persists please, see a doctor or a dermatologist again.
