Guido Orefice was an Italian Jew in the 1930s. Guido, always smiling, enjoys every moment of his life. One day he suddenly met a woman. Guido likes a woman named Dora. Every time Dora meets Guido, Guido does strange things.

Dora laughs every time she sees that. After many incidents, they got married. A few years later they had a son. World War II is going on here. German Nazi forces arrive in Italy. The Nazis captured all Jews, including Guido, his wife and son, and placed them in political prisons.

No human is aware of his future. No one knows what will happen in the future. Guido was living his ordinary life in an extraordinary way. She was happy in her life. After his marriage with his beloved, a child was born.

But it is time for the shadow of happiness to leave his forehead. The Nazis have moved to his country. They have ruined his happy life. A cloud of sorrow has begun to accumulate in his simple life.

Mentally strong people try to stay normal even in the most difficult situations. Guido realizes at some point that Dora will be married to another influential man. Even then he is mentally tough.

He hopes that today or tomorrow Dora will be his one day. Within a few days, his hopes came true. Today, the dream has come true in the life of Guido, who used to ride a bicycle in the streets of Italy in a ridiculous way. Today, a new responsibility has started on him.

The father tries to keep his child well in all situations. No matter how bad the situation is, the father never lets his child suffer. Guido and his children are kept in the men's camp and his wife in the women's camp. Guido's little boy doesn't understand anything.

He was worried about not seeing his mother. Then Guido, like an ideal father, protects his son from all worries. She tries to explain her child in all aspects

He does not tell his son about the prison camp but tells him that the game is going on here. And they also participated in the game. The innocent child agrees with the father. He can't understand so much anymore.

Roberto Benigni, the movie's director and main character, made history through this movie. He won the first Best Actor award in the non-English language male category in the history of the Oscars

The movie also won an Oscar in the Best International Feature Film category. Roberto Benigni's humorous demeanor as Guido Orefice is remarkable. Looking at Dora, Guido repeatedly said that Buongiorno Principessa is very nice.

He was very happy with Guido's strange behavior from the beginning. However, due to family pressure, he could not say anything. Giorgio Cantarini's innocent appearance in the role of their son Giosue evokes a strange fascination with childish behavior.

The movie first features 1930s Italy. Where people are freely walking on the streets and living their lives. Again, the horrors of the Nazi-occupied Italy in the 1940s are shown. Italy is beautifully portrayed through cinematography.

Although the prison camp scenes are much better. The sight of Guido whispering to his wife through a microphone or carrying a tree in his hand was beautiful. The horrors inside the concentration camp have also been captured on camera.

The movie depicts the horrors of Nazi persecution of Jews during World War II. How war can destroy human life is presented.

Guido remains optimistic despite hundreds of obstacles. Maybe in the hope that they will be free again. The emotional ending of the last stage creates a different feeling in the movie.
