Beatrix is a decentralized energy and telecommunications project that intends to provide solution to the perennial energy challenges of Africa. The project has proposed a micro modular energy solution which it hopes to employ to bridge the energy gap in a short period of time.
The essence of this project is to provide electricity and telecommunications to areas in Africa where these services are non-existent or where they are erratic or too expensive for the people to have access to.

Fossil fuels which are the major sources of energy have certain drawback such as their tendency to deplete over time and other attendant hazards such as pollution of the environment. The fact that it is not renewable energy source makes it essential that alternative sources of energy be developed to meet the ever increasing global energy need.
Chemical fertilizers also are known to have polluting effects on the soil and underground water channels. There’s hence the need to introduce organic fertilizers as a replacement to save the environment from gradual decay.
In Africa, greater proportion of the population do not have access to power supply. Even where energy is available, it is usually short in supply and does not meet the demand of the population. Most of the rural populace have no access to energy at all. These hamper the development of the region since industries have little incentives to set up in these areas.
The project employs the use of energy towers in the provision of energy. This is in collaboration with cooperating partners to deploy this novel technology which has been both theoretically and practically proven to work. The essence is to provide cheaper electricity to rural areas of Africa where people cannot afford high electricity cost.
The project involves active participation of BioConstruct, one of the best Biogas players in the European biogas market. The involvement of the company means that the Beatrix energy towers will involve the conversion of biomass to energy in an efficient way. This involves the utility of energy crops, solid and liquid manure in the generation of electricity.
The introduction of the biowaste organic fertilizers, a derivative of the energy generation process, is scheduled by the company as a cheaper replacement of the chemical fertilizers that presently dominate the fertilizer market in Africa.

The Rix is the internal currency of the Beatrix ecosystem and will be the only acceptable means of payment to access these services. It has an initial charge of 5kWh per token. It will also provide priority access to Rix energy auctions. It will also find use in payments for telecommunication services and in voting.
The Rix is a Renewable Energy certificate (REC) and buyers who buy the token are buying ownership of this green energy certificate that will in future be purchased by users of the Beatrix project.
All energy generated by Beatrix will be managed through the Rix Smart Contract. This will utilize blockchain to create a transparent, “trustless” tamper-proof recording system. It employs the Rix Power meter (RPM) to alert users when they are about exceeding their energy credit.
