Who was Billy Shears ? Did he replace Paul McCartney in 1966 ?
I remember when I 1st listened to the Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and wondering "who is Billy Shears" the Band Leader of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band....
Supposedly he was a man that won a 1st prize in 1966 in a Paul McCartney Look-a-like contest and would later replace Paul Mcartney as leader of this new band after Mcartney died in a car accident on Nov 9 1966.
There are many interesting coincidences on the albums after 1966 that seem to hint that Paul McCartney had died in a mysterious car crash in 1966.
I am finding it hard to find any photos of Billy Shears Campbell prior to 1966.... anyone have other photos?
To me all these photos look like Paul McCartney ???
I remember reading something about this in an old beatles book i have. I thought he was a friend of the band or something... but the Paul conspiracy was a funny one. Made even more suggestive on the cover of Abbey Road: John the Priest, Ringo the undertaker, Paul the bare-footed-smoking dead man, and George the gravedigger...
In the background, the VW beetle lic plate is 28 if -- Paul is 28 in pic.
Love this stuff :)
Abbey Road was the 1st record I ever owned
it might just be the best record i've ever owned
I agree
I think it might'a been Billy Shears in Paul's outfit in the pose where Paul's back is turned. Inside cover.
There's a great tribute to this is 'Trainspotting' -- when they take the train out of town to go for a hike: train pulls away (wipe screen) and there they are a la Beatles. It's awesome 😜
Yep, that's the one. I'll pull out my old song book and have a look. Away from home for a couple days though.
🤘😎
I will take a look
If you play "I am the walrus" backwards it says "Paul is dead."
Supposedly.
Its Number 9 from White Album says "Turm me on Dead Man" when played backwards .... and Lennon says " I buried Paul" at end of Strawberry Fields (which was a cemetery)
