Bear vs Man base rates.

To be perfectly clear, the reason guys are making fun of responses to bear vs man where the woman chooses the bear, is not because they are "mad" or somehow personally offended by women claiming to prefer the bear.

It is because this kind of reply is so blindingly stupid, it is either trolling or a sign of such basic ignorance of reality, math, and statistical probability that the person sharing it might not be a mentally competent adult.

It was bad enough when feminists were just out there misinforming people about the gender pay gap or claiming that "1 in 4 women have been raped", which is up there in pantheon of utterly farcical statistical claims (for those who are not aware, the "studies" that claimed the 1/4 figure just asked if female survey respondents had ever had an uncomfortable or awkward moment with a guy. They were never limited to actual assaults, let alone rapes, but that's the association the news media ran with and apparently everyone is innumerate and would prefer to be manipulated).

But now they're completely ignoring the concept of using base rates to get an accurate sense of risk per interaction, which is so dumb it beggars belief.

No, nobody is "mad". We're shocked at how devoid of intelligence the whole thing is.
