I should think not. I've been on the beach in the wind a few times and it's no fun. I end up with sand in my ears and a layer of skin missing from being sandblasted. I actually ruined a camera that way. It got sand in the lens mechanism and it wouldn't open and close anymore. How do you avoid that? You spend a lot of time on the beach!
Cheaper cameras get destroyed really fast! It's really rough on cameras and lenses. The mid range dslr's and lenses are weather sealed which does help a lot. I ruined a nice little Canon point and shot some years ago by getting sand in it : (
I didn't mean I would avoid the beach. Just avoid taking pictures of it! If Oregonians avoided the beach during bad weather we would never get to see it at all!
I don't go here very often and there are a ton of new courts! I guess they do like it... but not when the wind is howling haha!

I think mine was a Canon. It was sad. I will have to avoid the beach if it's windy!

Sand will get you! You could still go but just not bring it out if the sand is really flying around
