Beach Wednesday - Some Beaches Are For Bonfires!

Being on an island means there are a lot of beaches. I mean we are literally surrounded by beautiful beaches, but not all beaches are created equal. Sometimes we go to a beach to snorkel, or to paddle board, or to swim, or to surf. Going into the warm ocean waters is one of the best ways to cool off from the constant heat we have here in Puerto Rico. Some beaches are not swim friendly. There are many rocks and some have rough waters. One of my favorite ways to enjoy this type of beach is to have a bonfire.

I have to admit, as a mom of three, nothing makes me happier than seeing my kids enjoying each other's company. Doing these bonfires has become a sort of tradition for us, and we look forward to having them often with friends. We usually arrive at the beach about an hour before sunset to gather wood. As the sun comes down, we just sit and watch the beautiful show in the sky.

As the fire burns, we gather around and watch the glowing embers. We talk, and sing, and laugh, and enjoy s'mores. Sometimes we just sit and watch the sky and try to see some shooting stars while listening to the waves crashing. It's a time to bond, and a time to enjoy nature and the beauty that surrounds us, even in the darkness of the night.
