thinking about children is one of the local wisdoms of the Acehnese people. It is a speech art that has grown and developed from generation to generation in Acehnese society from a long time ago.

With poetry for children, the people of Aceh educate their children starting from the swing. The contents of the poetry concern religion, heroism, manners and so on.

This tradition of thinking about children can be said to be a concept of early education for children, even for babies in a swing. They are livened up with Islamic syarir, poetry concerning the values of monotheism, heroism, love for the country, noble attitudes and behavior, and adab towards parents.

For the people of East Aceh, the tradition of thinking about this child has existed since the days of the Peureulak Kingdom. This can be seen from the story of Putri Nurul 'Ala. In the book Tarich Aceh and Nusantara (1961) Acehnese historian H M Zainuddin mentions a fairy tale (mythe) of the Peureulak people which tells about Putri Nurul 'Ala in Peureulak.

It was reported that in the Peuleukak River near Blang Perak, Krueng Tuan and Krueng Seumanah existed a king who had no children. The king vowed that if he had a child, both a daughter and a son, he would take him to Kuala Peureulak to be bathed in sea water.

Not long after, his wife became pregnant and gave birth to two sons and a daughter. The daughter was named Nurul 'Ala. After his son grew up, King Peureulak intended to give up his vows.

After all the supplies were ready then drove to Kuala Peureulak. Arriving at Kuala Peureulak, he stopped at the estuary to make a raft. It was on the raft that the king's son was bathed.

While being bathed, suddenly a shark pounced on him. The king's son was taken to the middle of the sea. The king and his followers were afraid that they climbed back onto land and returned to the Peureulak River. Raja Peureulak then summoned a nujum (clever person) to see where the shark took the boy.

According to the astrologers, the king's son was still alive, having been saved by a skipper. The necromancer said that the king would not be agitated because when Putri Nurul 'Ala grew up she would have to cut down the peureulak tree beside Peunaron to make an ark. With the ark he could later pick up his brother to take home.
