Steem Basic Income - 7 Days Voting Distribution

Steem Basic Income

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

We first posted our distribution chart two weeks ago, and here we go again! The labeling is poor, and 454 votes means 454 accounts that received votes. There are a number of inactives in Pool 1 , or it would actually be 500. We are moving inactive members down into Pool 2 after 60 days of inactivity (down from 90 to help us better manage our voting power). The actual number of votes is much higher!

Last week we had a 15.3% self-vote. As we moved members into pool 2 to keep them from becoming paused in pool 1, it messed up the ratio of active to inactive members in pool 1. We have made some adjustments to how we move between pools to steady this out. In the meantime, we did extra self-votes to keep voting power from being wasted. As the pool stabilizes and our voting power establishes an equilibriu, this should drop back toward 10%. The rest is in line with expectations.

And the same for pool 2 upvotes (pool 2 upvotes come from @sbi2!)

@sneakyninja's portion dropped to 11.2% of the @sbi2 voting power, even with 25.9% of the pool 2 shares! Everybody else in pool 2 is getting more voting weight because @sneakyninja isn't posting enough to use the full allotment it should be receiving. @sneakyninja has a daily curation journal called The Daily Sneak that features a wide variety of posts. Guest curators get paid in SBD and featured authors get resteemed and sponsored for shares in @steembasicincome. Stop by and check it out! This balances out a lot of the difference in effective SP per share that exists between pool 1 and pool 2.

We are still looking for that equilibrium point that prevents wasted voting power in pool 2, and are using upvotes on @steembasicincome to prevent wasted voting power. As the membership in pool 2 grows, this will become less necessary. As predicted the voting weight going to @steembasicincome decreased from 17.1% last week to 16.3% this week. We anticipate that it will continue to drop as the membership of pool 2 grows and @sneakyninja's relative share decreases.

We do have a few members that should be paused, even in pool 2, because their voting weight has dropped below 0.50%. Since we haven't reached voting power equilibrium yet, we are forcing their rounding up to 1 instead of down to 0. As soon as we have enough, we will kick off pool 3, even though pool 2 isn't full yet.

Delegation Bonus Shares

Existing members can receive bonus shares by delegation. For every 25 SP delegated to @steembasicincome, members will receive 1 bonus share. Currently each share receives a weekly voting weight of roughly 3.52% in pool 1 or 15.59% in pool 2.

These bonus shares are counted before the bonus from upvoting @steembasicincome. So if you have 1 share, received 4 bonus shares from delegation of 100 SP, and then upvoted @steembasicincome regularly, you could potentially receive upvote weight equivalent to 10 shares instead of only 1!

Any Steemian that is already enrolled in @steembasicincome can delegate as much as they would like, to receive bonus shares. The approximate APR for this delegation is now 26%. That's a 26% annual return to boost everybody's basic income. I don't think it gets much better than that!

Upvoted & Resteemed because I was signed up by @f3nix and I think this is a great initiative. 😘

Thank you for your support!

Thank you for doing this program. I was signed by @greatestjourney and really did not know what this was. I kept wondering who @sbi1 was who votes on my posts and finally came to check you out. So today I signed up my son, @bxlphabet and have a couple more people in mind. I'm very interested to see how this project goes :)

Nice to see you here :)

I like my consistent upvotes too.

Hi there @metzli. I'm so happy to see you too. Every little bit helps and adds up over time :)

You're welcome! Glad to have you aboard!

Thank you! I'm so glad to be here :)

Im happy that we are growing :) cheers for growth and sustainability , thanks @steembasicincome :)

I'm happy that we are growing, too!

I set up steemvoter for you but for some reason it didnt take. There are 3 rules and you are my number 2 rule. Do you know if I set that up correctly?

I do have a question, though. Are the 1$ Steem a one time amount for 1 share for ourself and one for another person? Also, does the person being sponsored have to send 1$ steem to accept the sponsorship?

I'm not sure why steemvoter didn't take. They have a support channel in the minnowbooster discord if you haven't got it working yet. Your other questions @metzli handled just fine, though I tacked on some comments at the end of the thread.

steemauto.com seems to be a more user-friendly and free service. I haven't tried it myself, but I've been reading a fair bit of good comments about it.

It’s 1 steem for 2 shares. 1 for yourself, and one for whoever you choose to sponsor. The person you sponsor does not have to pay any steem. (They can choose to buy a membership themselves and sponsor another person too - but that would be a different transaction)

okay. someone sponsored me yesterday. I want to sponsor more people but am trying to figure out who right now.

How about the next little red fish who posts on your blog? No contests or extravaganza necessary- just sponsor them.

i'm not sure what a red fish is but i believe i understand your point hehe.

can i send the total steem at one time with all of their names in the memo section? i think i saw a couple like that in your wallet? sorry i ask a lot of questions

I think you can - Im just a participant who's been reading a lot about the service :)

Thanks for your help, @metzli!

And yes, @phedizzle, she is leading the way with correct answers. 1 STEEM with the name of a person you want to sponsor gets 1 share for each of you. They do not have to do anything to accept.
If they don't have shares already, we even send them a message giving you credit for sponsoring them!
You can send more than one name in a list, with the appropriate amount of STEEM. we prefer comma-separated (look for a transaction from @sneakyninja for an example) but we won't reject it if it's different.

Right now enrollments are handled manually, and we process in batches (typically every day or two).

Dear @steembasicincome.

I was wondering if you are working on upvoting comments, as I might fall into a period of posting very little or not at all, due to intense professional workload. Yet I would be around and comment on post of my community.

How can this play out?

As always. Thank you for your work.

Moritz

I totally understand! My own page (@josephsavage) doesn't get many posts on it either! Too busy here and with The Daily Sneak.

I really wanted to support posts and comments when I started out, but I couldn't get it to work with any out of the box solutions.

That's partially why we ended up with the current system: We calculate the upvote weight for each member on a weekly basis, and then adjust for individual posting frequency. So if you post even once a week, you will receive approximately the same value as you would from posting every day. There may be some difference due to rounding.

We are planning to develop our own bots soon to fully automate the entire process- which will give us more control over the upvote delivery (including supporting comments for users that aren't posting regularly), instead of being limited to the @steemvoter features. Unfortunately that's not in place yet.

Dear @steembasicincome.

Thank you for your answer.
So would that mean, that I have to post one time a week, and that if I skip a week I would miss onw weeks basic income? Or would I get a two week worth basic income if I posted every two weeks?

Best regards.
Morit

For now, it means that you would miss a week. If that does happen, try to let me know before you post and I can see about making a temporary adjustment to boost your upvote on your first post back.

Thaks for your answer. I managed to publish an article today. Have a look , if it will need a bigger upvote. Yet, for the next weeks I will be quite silent..

I just sent in 6 people to be sponsored. i said nominate, but i meant sponsor. lol. I really love this idea.

Awesome, I'm starting on that batch soon!

I love this project. One question: is the giveaway helping? Should sponsored members be educated better in following and up voting Steembasicincome?

There are several different giveaways happening, and we noticed that members started using #steembasicincome as a tag. We think this is a great idea, and will use that as one of our tags, too.

I think that giveaways definitely help, and they are very much in line with the intent, which is to keep throwing the net wider and provide a basic income to as many people as possible.

I think most members could be educated better! I pay attention to the types of questions people are asking the most and make sure I cover that information frequently. It would be helpful when you do giveaways to point out that while the people you sponsor benefit without having to do anything, the benefit they receive will actually improve if they upvote.

I do tell them after I sponsor them. I hope that that helps, but I’ll yry to do better. I see @inspiredgideon1 here, becoming enthusiastic for Steembasicincome , so I believe I’m at least pointing in the right direction:-)

You're doing fine. I need to put together an FAQ series soon.

Thanks. This project is starting to become big. Need any extra help?

If you'd like, you could come into Discord and help answer the occasional question from new members.

Very interesting post and useful for steemit friends. This post is now also my resteem on my blog

Thanks for your support!

And there is free time coming to our small blog my friend

Hello, thanks to this project! Which account is voting @steenbasicincome or @sbi2?

I show that you are in pool 2, so your upvotes will come from @sbi2.
