It's a shame it has to be put in these terms (I.e. a claim on ownership). There shouldn't be any reason necessary for a UBI other than providing safety and security for all members of a society. You have to ask, what's the point of society if it can't provide that?
One of my favourite Ghandi quotes is "You can judge a society by how they treat their weakest members."
