Manna to 100,000 merchants?

Manna is not a cryptocurrency nor is it a basic income project.

Manna is a community. This is what is going to enable us to reach the original goal of eliminating poverty around the world.

It is the insight, efforts, and mindset of the millions of people who eventually get involved in this project that is going to have the major impact.

The other day we came across an post that shows how some are able to link a few ideas together.

@familyquoteboard wrote about a platform called Wala. This is an application that provides many of the same services banks to yet for less money.

They operate using a cryptocurrency called the Dala.

An article posted on coindesk has this in it:

"And with 100,000 merchants offering goods and services through Wala's platform, the startup has created a small-scale circular economy – something crypto enthusiasts have long vied for.

"Not only can they do it in their country, but they can do it across 10 markets. So if you are in South Africa and your mom lives in Zimbabwe, you can buy her airtime or pay for her electricity.""

This sounds like a wonderful platform that is badly needed in nations like this. Much of our experience in the third world nations is that they have little to no access to a reliable banking system. The ones that do exist tend to be expensive and, in many cases, outright corrupt. A tool like Wala could go a long way to helping those in the most need.

It sounds like one of the main issues is that people do not have dala tokens. A platform is only of help if there is something to transmit over it.

This is where @familyquoteboard made the connection.

This is a huge deal. It means that to make Manna useful on a practical, day to day level as a UBI in Africa, all we would have to do is provide a way to exchange Manna for Dala (Wala's cryptocurrency). That's a lot less work than trying to set it all up ourselves. The future is near!

Here we see evidence of the potential of manna. A single individual made the mental link that could help thousands. We believe as manna evolves throughout the rest of this year, many of these issues will be resolved.

Hopefully some members of the community will start to approach a particular situation like this with some ideas of how to swap manna for dala. It would really help out those African communities.

The other point that is educational from the Coindesk piece is this:

In several countries throughout Africa, citizens are spending an average of 27 cents to top up their mobile airtime, and they're using a crypto token to do it.

We all need to keep in mind how little it takes to make a difference in the lives of many. In western countries, to top a phone bill off would cost $20 or $30 versus 27 cents. It is important to remember that ten or twenty cents of manna can make a big difference in many parts of the world.

Sometimes a little thing like topping off someone's phone goes a long way to changing that life.

Community is at the core of all blockchains in my view.

It is pretty groovy to see what people are doing with this platforms.

Indeed, projects with no core values, that rely on pure greed as motivation will not last as well as projects where people are motivated by more altruistic shared goals

Very cool, yep its all about the network of the people interacting with the currency that will give it value. You'll hear me say time and time again my hope is that the value of manna will be derived from the values of humanity.

With these experiences, you can make manna more valuable than them, you just need to bring down what each platform do to manna, maybe like two or three

I started reading this post with no idea what it was going to be about... Thanks for the shout out!
