Some may say that winter is the best time to visit San Diego as in the month of December San Diego experience a clear and pleasant weather, with the sun generally shining through a layer of fresh air. This is a time when people are driving to the beach with their shorts on. However, my fiancé and I came to San Diego for a week during the spring in May. The city is absolutely gorgeous with so many “must see” attractions it made it difficult to narrow things down. We were glad that we booked our stay for the week as we were able to see so much in just a short amount of time.

San Diego has the best of both the worlds. You can experience ice skating beneath the stars at the Hotel Del Coronado which is simply unforgettable. We stayed at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Misson Bay Spa and Marina which was close to all of the spots we wanted to see.

The yearly “Jungle Bells” event gives holiday-themed animal shows, excursion-themed leisure, excursion treats and tree lightings at night. Other attractions include a tractor-pulled trolley which drives visitors throughout the Zoo in evening. To make things more special, even Santa makes a special appearance.

From the cliffs, California gray whales often can be seen migrating annually from the Bering Sea to Baja California and back. Legend says that the couple who watches a sunset together at Sunset Cliffs will share a lifetime of happiness together. Funny that the very next day that my boyfriend Justin proposed to me in Balboa Park in the Alcazar Gardens.
