Excellent article. I am not a big baseball fan and only follow the sport somewhat during the playoffs. I saw some tweets by Jose Canseco last week in which he thought the owners might be colluding in the free agent market and opined that one-year deals would become more prevalent in the future. Your article makes a lot of sense and provides a rational explanation as to why these big changes are taking place in baseball. These changes will be bad for the players but I believe better for the overall health of the sport.
