Feel Good Cafe in Chiang Mai: really small, really friendly, really nice

I have said it before about the city center in Chiang Mai and I'll say it again. Some of the best places to visit in this busy city are down the small alleyways away from the main street. That was certainly the case with Feel Good Cafe as I likely would have never stumbled upon it if I hadn't been lead to it by a friend.

There isn't much to the place and to be honest there doesn't need to be. They have a collection of various stools and chairs situated around a small, 1-room building with a very compact bar in it. Everyone sits outside around 3 or 4 tables that have candles on them. There is light music playing and it is just a great place to hang out and have a chat.

The drinks are not wonderfully priced but they are also not terribly expensive. I would say that it is about 10% more expensive here than other bars I have been to but I believe the friendliness of the staff easily make up for this because they were at least 10% nicer than other places.

A lot of extra care went into the drinks they made and while this is a tiny thing it appeals to me: They have both crushed and cubed ice and understand which one is meant to enhance which cocktail.

And now for the only reason you really need to visit here

Sangria is not something that is encountered a great deal in Thailand. There are many places I have been to that have tried to make it but either do it blissfully wrong or they make too much of it at once and the fruit ends up getting mushy and in the worst cases rotten while it is in a giant container waiting to be sold.

This is not the case at Feel Good Cafe - their Sangria is exceptional.

I ordered this drink with a tinge of fear in my heart but wow, I was impressed. This was by far the best Sangria i have had on this side of the planet. Overall, i would say that this is a wonderful secret in the heart of the city. It might take a little bit of work to actually find it but there was something just wonderful about being somewhere nice and quiet in the middle of a very busy and very populated city. I will definitely return.... mostly for the Sangria
