American liberalism in danger?

The latest from Bari Weiss, perhaps the most comprehensive account of the new ideology underlying “anti-racism”, “Critical Race Theory” and “wokeness” (a term now conveniently disavowed by its adherents) and why it is also anti-Semitic at its core – given what it stands for it cannot not be.

It is long, but worth reading in full – lots of shocking examples. To be sure, I found nothing essentially new, nothing I have not been thinking and saying for years now. Weiss may be late to the party, but, at least for starters, her “liberal” credentials are not in doubt. She is one Jew who has woken up to the fact that the liberal world in which mainstream American Jews feel comfortable and the political party and credo to which they feel reflexively loyal no longer exists.

It is gone.

In its place is a new “post-liberalism” that tarnishes the legacy and philosophy of MLK (a hero to most American Jews) and is already ruining the lives of thousands of people. Mainstream Jews in general have not woken up, still underestimate the power and harm of this new ideology without a name, stand in terror of being judged racist for not being “anti-racist” enough, for thinking that they are past racist when in fact they are inherently biased.

It is pathetic.

The frustration is that those who will read what Weiss says here mostly agree with her and those who won’t take the time are the ones who need most to read it.
