It decided last night to RAIN. A LOT. And so this morning, I sat down and did some composing. ❤️ It’s been a while. I think I only wrote one or two songs last year, and it has been FOREVER-and-a-few-days since I last wrote out a lead sheet for anything. Lol.

Last year I recorded a traditional Celtic EP, and while I enjoyed the process of reconnecting with my musical roots, there is something markedly different about purposing to allow the Spirit to flow through you and come out in its own way.

I deeply enjoy the creative process. It is hard, sometimes, to balance it with mom duties, but I love how it puts me deeper in touch with my passion for music, my faith (because creativity is deeply spiritual), and gives me a new understanding and appreciation of my instrument. It’s where the “rubber meets the road.” When you seek to compose new music, it pushes your limitations, and solidifies your practical skills and knowledge in ways routine scales and drills (and practicing pieces you already know like the back of your hand) don’t.

Have a good one! 🎶
