Lots of goals - lots of fun!

in #barcelona3 years ago

So we had an amazing evening yesterday, at least if you were watching the Champions League matches and if you are fond of seeing lots of goals! I wasn't entirely satisfied with all the results, but if I forget about that for a second, then I am still happy about all the fun I had.

So, I was watching the Golazo program on Paramount+. It is very brilliant because they follow every single match simultaneously. You can find live streams from every single match there as well, but instead, I just watch the main program which follows the different matches and shows highlights from all the matches while it is happening. And let me tell you, they had a busy evening yesterday.

The craziest result was probably the 6-3 match between Manchester City and RB Leipzig. I knew beforehand that RB Leipzig had trouble with their defense, but this was just crazy. And to be honest, I felt like Manchester City was kind of sloppy with their defense as well, after all, they allowed Nkunku to score three times. But, that was nothing compared to the misery of the Leipzig defense!

So, we saw 9 goals in total at the Etihad Stadium, but if we travel to Portugal, then the match between Sporting and Ajax was quite amusing as well, a match in which Sebastian Haller scored four times. A lot would have changed if Sporting would have gotten their 2-3 goal after the break, but instead, it was ruined and Ajax got their 4-1 goal, and then later the 5-1 goal. What a night for Haller who is the first Ajax player ever to score four goals in a Champions League match.

I really enjoyed the match between Liverpool and AC Milan as well, even though I was cheering for AC Milan and not Liverpool. However, the goals were beautiful to watch, especially the two AC Milan goals, and all in all, I am happy about the quality of the match.

The disappointment

Of course, not everything will be perfect. There were two results that I didn't really like. The match between Inter and Real Madrid was a highlight, but it was quite boring, and Real Madrid won after a lucky goal just before the end.

The disappointment, however, was the performance of PSG against Club Brugge. Even though PSG should be the best team in Europe, I have great trouble seeing them win the Champions League if they will keep on playing like they did yesterday. Kylian Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar were all on the pitch from the first minute, but it didn't help them much. THe fact that Mbappe had to leave with injury after 50 minutes made things even worse, and both Neymar and Messi played like they could have been any average attacker somewhere else in Europe. The result was 1-1 in the end, and to be honest, if one of the teams would have won the match, it could just as well have been Club Brugge.

A wonderful evening after all!

No matter what, it was a wonderful evening after all, and now I am just looking forward to more fun and more matches in the near future'
