Travelling to Bangkok

Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand is well known for trading activities, especially clothing and textile materials.
Bangkok is as intoxicating as it is diverse; a melting pot of exotic aromas, interesting sights and visual delights. It is a city with infinite layers which you need to explore to reveal its hidden secrets.

The city is like a frenetic jigsaw puzzle of towering skyscrapers, colorful taxicabs, motorcycle taxis, and busy pedestrians. This is a diverse city—an amalgamation of old and new—has to offer. Like many other capital cities in the world, Bangkok is a busting place with a cacophony of sights and sounds that handsomely rewards urban explorers who are willing to get lost in the city that is filled with non-stop action, grit and character.

Government:

It is important to note that the seat of government of Thailand is in Bangkok, where the Prime Minister, Senators, The Senate President and other top Government officials are resident. The tourist attraction in Bangkok is also well developed.

Religion:

Buddhism is a form of religion that is widely practiced in Bangkok (Thailand) just the same way one would see Buddhist temples all over India. However, there are lots of Muslims in Bangkok as well, so one would come across several mosques also. Like other Muslim women, it is not uncommon to see their women dressed in Hijab’ covering the better part of their faces. The culture in Bangkok is mainly Asian- in the dancing, eating, religion etc.

Thailand is well known for its rice production so the culinary that you get in simple restaurants and five star hotels in Bangkok are predominantly delicious rice based delicacies. Bangkok boasts of some of the best cheap eateries in the world. Aside of the sightseeing and shopping, Bangkok has developed into a magnet for food lovers of all origins.

Commuting:

Whilst Taxi fares are very reasonable, most of the sightseeing can comfortably be reached by Skytrain (BTS) or Underground train (MRT).

Getting stuck in a bad traffic jam is typically unavoidable if you are in a car or another vehicle. Public transportation is rapidly improving and the BTS (the above-ground Skytrain) and MRT (underground metro) run from 6 a.m. to midnight every day. Brightly colored taxis and tuk-tuks are also available for hire for a bargain.

Relaxation:

In terms of wellness and relaxation, Bangkok has recently seen a huge development of city Spas and Wellness centres, in addition to the long established Thai massage centers.

Weather:

During the rainy season, which spans from May to November, the weather is warm and humid, with afternoon showers. Strong rains fall periodically, with the occasional dramatic thunderstorms.

The best time to visit Bangkok is from late November to mid-January. During this time, the climate is a tropical cool: humid, yet comfortable. The least ideal time to go is between March and May, when the city reaches its highest temperatures.
The hottest season runs from March to August. Rainy season is unpredictable and varies, but normally runs from June to early October. April is the hottest month, with an average high of 95°F (35°C) with humidity adding an extra layer of heat. December is the coolest month, with an average high of 79°F (26°C).

Places of Interest:

The city is appreciated by visitors for its versatility and multiple points of interests. From temples, the Grand Palace, Asia's largest shopping centres and the largest outdoor market of Asia (Chatuchak), Bangkok has what it takes to entertain visitors.
Lumphini Park is the city’s answer to New York’s Central Park. It is filled with a large lake brimming with monitor lizards. Haggling at the markets are a common sight even though the city’s plush hotel offerings and world-renowned spas will give you just the quiet getaway.

One of the most visited and remembered landmark in Thailand is the Grand Palace in Bangkok. It is where every visitor must pay a visit at least once in their lifetime. The construction of the Grand Palace began in 1782 during the reign of King Rama I, the founder of Chakri Dynasty, to become a royal residence, and it has been the utmost architectural symbol of Thailand ever since. The Grand Palace served as a significant royal residence until 1925 and is now used for ceremonial purposes only.
Khao San Road is the best known area among backpackers and budget travelers in Bangkok. Scores of tourists from all places and origins are populating the numerous guesthouses and small hotels at any given season of the year.

Nationals of many developing nations are frequent visitors to the city of Bangkok. The unique attraction of foreigners to Bangkok is that the clothing/textile industry is well developed that production of cheap materials are done on a large scale and made available as exports to other countries.

With such a unique blend of culture, rich heritage and vast diversity, Bangkok certainly a haven for relaxation and shopping – definitely a great place for any tourist to visit.
