The car industry takes unexpected hit from Baltimore bridge collapse.

The port of Baltimore is a receiving area for lots and lots of cars. Not much fewer than a million a year go through there from various overseas factories.

With no bridge, a lot of expected deliveries just ain't gonna happen. If you are waiting on a car on order, from anyone not building in the States, get ready to keep waiting. And if you were planning on striking like a cobra when the dealerships get overloaded with inventory and the customers are reluctant, well... now the dealers are going to run down and probably be very light on inventory in a few months. Like they were during the chip fiasco and covid.

Looks like events can rapidly alter the landscape, in the car biz and otherwise.

Keeping your money in your pocket is probably not a bad play.
