According to the Saudi foreign minister in an exclusive interview with CNN on Saturday, Joe Biden's contentious fist bump with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was "a success" for the US President.

After arriving in Jeddah on Friday, the US President gave the de facto ruler of the country a casual greeting, drawing criticism. Given US suspicions that the Crown Prince was behind the 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi — and Biden's subsequent commitment on the 2020 campaign trail to make Saudi Arabia a "pariah," many have argued that the fist bump was inappropriate.

Hours after the President left Jeddah on Saturday, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan spoke with CNN's Nic Robertson and downplayed the incident.
