The Chinese copy Mercedes-Benz 6 × 6

in #baic6 years ago

A few years ago, the BAIC BJ80C hit the Chinese roads, a model "heavily inspired" by the Mercedes G-Class. The manufacturer is following the blow and is now presenting the 6x6 version.

We have already written about the "best" Chinese copies of Western cars. It is known that the Chinese people will fake everything, from Mazda CX-5, through Land Rover Evoque, to Citroen C4 Picasso and Porsche Macan. In 2015, they also targeted the Mercedes G-Class. The BAIC BJ80C model (as always, I'm impressed by the Chinese naming school) can even have a 4-liter gasoline engine under the hood, and optionally you can choose the version with a tent and a serial snorkel.

Mercedes protested against the introduction of such a model.

What's more, he even had a strong argument in his hand, because Daimler owns 12% of BAIC shares. But the Chinese were not convinced. The BJ80C has hit the market, and now - with the Mercedes - the manufacturer complements the range. Speech of 6 × 6 variant, which will officially debut in a few days during the show in Beijing. The Germans must be furious.

The look is even closer to the Mercedes than the "short" version.

The whole is however a little smaller than the original. I can not get rid of the impression that this front has already been seen somewhere - maybe on the occasion of the magnificent Lublin Pasagon?

The interior will be exactly the same as in the four-wheeled BJ80. The cockpit looks like a combination of this class G with the current Land Cruiser.

As for the technical details, the full will probably be revealed on the occasion of the debut. For now, it is said that the BAIC BJ80 6 × 6 will be powered by the 2.3 turbo engine coming from ... Saab. It is to produce 250 HP and 350 Nm. The gearbox is a 6-speed automatic. It is also mentioned that a hybrid variety may appear. That would be good - nobody could be indignant that this car is uneconomic!

Recall - the original had a 5.5-liter V8 with a power of 544 hp.

It looks like he could tow a tanker full of things from Ali Express!

The basis for this variety was the version created for the Australian army. Class 6 × 6 class G wheels were 37 inches and the car's mass was almost 3.8 tonnes. Interestingly, from all European markets, the largest number of such Mercedes was sold in Poland. Speech of seven pieces. Total production slightly exceeded one hundred cars. I wonder if all Polish owners have a C category driving license. With this mass, it is already required.

BAIC BJ80 6 × 6 will definitely be a little lighter.

Chinese representatives of the richer middle class are already rubbing their hands. Finally, they will be able to ride something really big and look at others with contempt. I would love to see BAIC and Merca in the field. But it would be if BAIC won!
