RE: The 10 Reasons of the current pilot shortage

in #aviation7 years ago

since when is there a pilot shortage?! Lufthansa for example is training pilots only to wait-list them afterwards instead of hiring them. One of my friends is a certified pilot, but he is working as a flight attendant. Btw, I'm from Germany. Maybe it's different in other parts of the world ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Well China as a major shortage in pilot right now, they hire Captain current on type from around the world with contract of 1M$USD / for 3 years, all expenses paid for training. US has started missing pilot since last years meanly due to poor salary and condition. In Canada it started since the beginning of 2017 but it's only gonna get worst in the years to come.

True. This so called pilot shortage (while true in some respects) it's self inflicted. If they need pilots, do it like Air France does. They provide ab-initio training for free as long as you are a french or EU member, if I remember well.

Regardless, if airlines are desperately so short of pilots, why not make a program like AF? This would be so beneficial for pilots already getting trained (student pilots) and then they can deduct the cost of training from their paychecks, as Air France does.
