Warbirds - Memories of an Airshow.
Ever since I was a child I've been fascinated by aeroplanes. I always love going to airshows, so when our local Airforce base held one a few years ago, we had to go. It was a sweltering day, but that didn't stop thousands of people attending to view all the aircraft on display.
I particularly like seeing the old bi-planes taxiing past, and going for a flight. Like these 2.
Probably the most impressive of all was the FA/18 Super Hornets, which we were able to get pretty close to, and have a look around. The technology inside those plains is just incredible. And to think they're already outdated...
Of course, no airshow is complete without some formation flying. The Red Arrows were in fine form, doing aerobatics above us, while we tried not to get blinded by the sun.
Another special moment, and probably one we may not see again anytime soon, was the flyover of a B52 Stratofortress. We don't have a long enough runway for the plane, so it flew all the way from Guam to Perth, just to fly over a few times, and then head back. Something ridiculous like a 14 hour round-trip mission.
The sun wasn't at a great angle, so my photos didn't come out as well as I hoped.
I think the best chance I have of becoming a pilot these days is getting a radio controlled plane, and learning not to crash it....
Have a great day!!

One of the most exciting airshows we attended was seeing refueling in the air, with you on enjoying these outings @bmj
My Dad flew in the 2nd World war and for recreation, a Tiger-moth..even went fishing and landed on the beach, at low tide! Those were the days.
Wicked cool. Lived on an base and stationed so got to see several different badass aircrafts including several blue angel tomcat shows :)
