What happened on Avalanche yesterday?

It was almost strange... I wrote an article about how much better Avalanche is than Ethereum in many ways, especially when it comes to speed and price, and then a few hours later, Avalanche is turning slow and very expensive, meaning that many people paid fees like $10 and more to do transactions and communicate with contracts on the blockchain. Isn't that terrible?

You could find lots of posts about it on Reddit where people complained and spoke about how much better Polygon is, and all in all, it was quite an interesting time. Personally, I didn't really understand what happened to my favorite blockchain as of late.

But, what really happened? First of all, there was a lot of action and transactions going on. But, isn't that what Avalanche is supposed to manage easily, without delays and without sending the gas fees to the sky? It is supposed to, but somehow, it feels as if they weren't ready for what was going on yesterday evening. Since then, things have turned back to normal... the question is what will happen the next time thousands of people want to do transactions at the same time.

We know that lots of people work with Wonderland all the time, staking and unstaking, and then TraderJoe is a very popular DEX, and yesterday, you also had lots of people active buying tokens for a new project that launched on Avalaunch. Besides this, there are also some games that are causing lots of transactions to be made on the blockchain.

Now the question is - will Avalanche be prepared for this the next time? If not, I believe many of the hardcore fans will start to look for other, better, cheaper, and faster blockchains in the future.
