NYC Showery Halloween Expected

Good morning everyone. We have a beautiful day today after a very rainy Sunday, but the gloom is coming back for almost the entire week, so enjoy what we have left. In other news, the medium range doesn't look as cool/cold with the airmass taking too long to get here and modifying. That will equate to slightly below normal temps, and no frost or freeze overnight when it gets here.

Expect sunny skies today, light winds, and highs in the low to mid 60's. Overnight, the clouds return as a maritime flow moves in. This will keep our Tuesday cloudy with the chance of scattered drizzle and light rain. We're not talking a full rainout, but it'll be a somewhat gloomy day and highs near 60.

The gloom hangs on for Wednesday with that system beginning to make its approach with the warm front. At minimum, we'll have gloomy and raw conditions until between noon & 3pm; then it'll break up a bit and we could get a quick taste of mild temps before sunset. Highs Wednesday in the mid to upper 60's.

Our next system is in full swing on Halloween Thursday, with a round of morning showers, possibly a break in between, then another round of rain come afternoon/evening. While temps will be mild, trick or treating for the young ones could be a challenge. Let's wait and see what the system looks like as it approaches and we'll do better with an exact timeline for precip. Highs Thursday will be 65-70.

That system is still trying to get out on Friday, with morning showers possible before clearing out as the day progresses. Our high temps will also happen early, with low to mid 60's before we drop late afternoon. We could be in the 40's before 9pm and it'll be a seasonably cool night.

Our cool air arrives, but 36hrs extra make a big difference as far as how cool we go. Average highs are around 60 this time of year, so low to mid 50's really aren't that extreme. We'll chalk it up and call it "seasonably cool" both Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the low to mid 50's.

At night, upper 30's to low 40's will dominate but it won't be cool enough for a frost. We could still see frost in the colder valleys NW of the City and in the Pine Barrens of Long Island, but it won't be widespread in the Metro Area.

MANY THANKS TO TROPICAL TIDBITS FOR THE USE OF MAPS

Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
