CERTAIN MODELS BRING SNOW INTO NYC AREA
Good morning New York City. We’re having a rainy time here in Gotham this morning, but things should clear out as the morning wears on; paving the way for more cold air and an interesting Thursday/Friday.

Clouds and steady rain persist until late morning, then maybe some spotty drizzle lags for a little while. Expect temps to hang in the mid to upper 40’s today..
Slightly colder than expected air works it’s way in for tomorrow, with sunny skies, blustery conditions, and highs only in the mid to upper 30’s. This also sets the stage for what’s to come on Thursday.
For Thursday, another coastal system will work it’s way up from the southwest, but it’ll be ramming into much colder air than the previous few we’ve experienced the past few weeks.
While some models this morning are showing an all or nearly all snow solution for the NYC/Long Island area, I continue to remain conservative on this one. While air will be colder , helping my case for an early mix changing to rain, I’m highly doubtful it can remain cold enough to support snow the entire way through.
So as of this moment, expect a cloudy, raw, and cold day Thursday, with lowering and thickening clouds. Looks for some sleet, wet snow, and rain to begin by late afternoon/early evening. I think Low pressure remains too close to keep cold air in lower atmosphere, so any mix should change to a cold rain overnight. As things depart Friday, we could see another round of wet flakes or wet flakes mixed with rain.
Stay tuned as we keep a close eye on the situation as predicting shallow layers of cold air can be tricky.
