Cadillac frame repair.
Check out this frame rot on a 2003 Cadillac Escalade! Yowza. We don't see this problem very often on the prairie, and this isn't why the truck was even in the shop, but follow along as I make it safe again.
The rusted section is where the rear fuel tank strap attaches, it fills with dirt and slowly rusts through. I searched the rest of the frame and found nothing more than minor flaking.
You can see when the bolt was turned to remove it the nut just twisted free from the rust. There wasn't much holding the fuel tank in 😲
The reason the Cadillac was in the shop-the rear brake lines were rusted through. They route over the fuel tank.
Now the rust repair. I measured out some plate steel and then bent them to fit nicely.
Sorry I didn't get any welding action shots. Here is the finished product.
Some paint and a captured nut will ensure this repair outlasts the rest of the truck. All of the crack like lines are just rust flakes.

Great repair 👍 from you... but a car from year 2003 so much rust, that’s crazy 😬
