Part 4 [7 Homeopathic Cases] Tonsillitis & “PANDAS”.
New Patient: A.G. Female. Age 5. UK.
A.G. is having recurrent tonsillitis. She has permanently inflamed glands in the throat. Each episode is getting worse and antibiotics haven’t helped. She's beginning to exhibit 'PANDAS' like behavioural changes during these episodes: loss of eye contact, emotional fragility [anxiety and meltdowns] & uncharacteristic defiance. Between episodes, she’s a mild mannered & timid child. She’s popular with children at school and has great conflict resolution skills.
Additional issues:
For 6 months she’s had a bad infection of molluscum contagiosum around the legs and genitalia.. She has an allergic rash that comes with fruit from the latex family [pineapple, kiwi, mangoes, strawberries, etc].
She is tall, pale, thin and timid. Her molluscum eruptions don’t heal well.
Toxicology/Medical history:
She’s has steroid creams, full vaccines schedule and one course of antibiotics.
She is the eldest of three and the family no-longer vaccinates since her next brother [another patient of mine] was vaccine injured and regressed into autism. Her brother’s experience indicates the family may be poor at detoxing metals.
We don’t know why boys exhibit autism at a far greater rate than girls. If A.G. was male she may well have been autistic too. Girls seem to be protected to some extent.
The youngest brother is unvaccinated and extremely healthy so far.
Vaccines contain a detergent called polysorbate 80 which makes the blood-brain barrier permeable giving aluminium and other vaccine contents access to the brain. It is probable that PANDAS is so common among vaccine injured, autistic children because the blood-brain barrier is compromised and the immune system is very weak. I suspect this is the case for A.G.
First Prescription:
Silica 200c, single dose weekly for 4 weeks.
Poly steriod detox, according to the 8 week Homeopathic Detox Therapy [HDT] “4x4” protocol, raising through the following potencies: 30c, 200C, 1M & 10M.
Poly bowel nosode 30c, single dose for 21 days à gut healing after antibiotics.
She fits silica well. It also one of the remedies that can speed up the resolution of molluscum.
I'll be sure to post updates to let you know how she does. I've worked very successfully with children with enlarged glands and recurrent tonsillitis [as well as with children diagnosed with PANDAS], so I'm hopeful she'll do well.

PANDAS: Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Strep.
It’s a disorder of the PANS group [PANS = Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndromes].
In children with PANDAS diagnosis, strep exposure triggers a misdirected immune response causing brain inflammation that leads to intermittent episodes of OCD, anxiety, tics, personality changes, decline in math and handwriting abilities, sensory sensitivities, restrictive eating, and more [all common symptoms in autism spectrum disorder also].

The Future
PANS & PANDAS can be resolved well with homeopathy. Antibiotic and steroid blast treatments are conventionally used and can have some short-term benefits, along with side effects.
Diagnosis isn't necessary for the success of homeopathic treatment as we use the symptoms to find a fitting remedy. However, it is useful for homeopaths to be aware of PANS conditions and their possible triggers as they can do some work toward supporting the child with homeopathic nosodes alongside treatment to raise the immune system.
