As I mentioned in previous posts, today is the first day of official evals with people qualified to diagnose our son with Autism. @winstonwolfe and I have known for a long time that he is on the spectrum, but a shortage of psychiatrists able to make the diagnosis has kept us on a waiting list for over a year and away from important therapies and programs we have needed.
I'm happy to say we will wait no more!
Today is the day!
...And tomorrow
And the next day.
And the day after that.
In reality, getting a full diagnosis means several visits with several different specialists this week. One for speech, one for occupational therapy, and of course, the child psychiatrist. After this is complete, we will have a new world of options available to us.
It's going to be a long week for my sweet little man, but I'm so proud of how he handled his first day.
