You, Me and Autism Awareness

in #autism9 years ago (edited)

World Autism Awareness Day will be celebrated on April 2, 2017. Around the world, members of the United Nations and autism organizations hold events to raise awareness and other fundraising events, to empower those who have autism, promote a better understanding of this condition and educate society.

I have a couple of friends whose children have autism and I greatly admire their courage, understanding, patience and most of all their unconditional love for their children. I don’t deal with autism every day and not for a moment would I presume to know the myriad difficulties families have in dealing with this. But what I do know is that it is not just all hardships, it also has moments of joy – in fact a lot of it.

It depends on what we think, how we view autism. It could be not just a disability, but an ability that needs nurturing, love, patience, understanding, and, above all, support. When the world – and the lives of all those with autism – are lit up with blue on April 2, we can show we care. Help spread autism awareness and help them be heard.

Already there are t-shirts, hoodies, mugs, and other products for sale on Amazon, and other online stores.
