INTRODUCTION
The barcode, invented by Norman Joseph Woodland and Bernard Silver in 1951, is a method of representing data in a visual, machine-readable form. The earlier barcodes were represented data by varying the widths and spacings of parallel lines. These barcodes, now commonly referred to as linear or one-dimensional (1D), can be scanned by special optical scanners called barcode readers. The later two-dimensional (2D) variants called matrix codes or 2D barcodes were developed, using rectangles, dots, hexagons and other geometric patterns, and can be conveniently read with application software on mobile devices with inbuilt cameras, such as smartphones and other devices
Quick Response Code or QR code is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional barcode) first designed in 1994 for the automotive industry in Japan, before it became ubiquitous because of its successful deployment. QR codes often contain data for a locator, identifier, or tracker that points to a website or application, and utilizes four standardized encoding modes (numeric, alphanumeric, byte/binary, and kanji) to store data efficiently.
The above common optical labels are less susceptible to secure storage, less verifiable and decentralized. Bottom line, its not future proof and reliable.

AUTHOREON, IN A NUTSHELL
Authoreon was founded in March 2017 with the goal of decentralizing Authorization, Authentication, Verification & Certification for Consumers, Corporations, Governments & Organizations. The project allows an altruistic self-managed identity and traceability of products through the supply, retail and ownership chain, and it aims to prevent fraud, cyber-attacks, material and immaterial identity theft, counterfeits.

The A-ID
Authoreon's A-ID, the world’s first machine-readable optical label, allows assets and applications to be authorized, authenticated,verified and certified on the Blockchain, in a heartbeat.
Also with the A-ID,users can store all their personal data securely on the blockchain while granting selective access to verified and authorized instances and particular periods, only. The personal A-ID not only serves as a digital twin type passport of the modern age, it also enables a self-managed identity with the user being in charge of his/her data.
The Nanolense
The Authoreon Nanolense, a hardware extension for your mobile phone required to capture and verify micro-scans of materials like leather, plastic, wood or metal. It works on the principle that each maerial has a unique surface structure – just like a fingerprint. With the Authoreon Nanolense mobile users can verifiy the authenticity and originality of paintings, artworks, sculptures etc.
Original Product Verification
Authoreons’ optical scan technology allows original products to be verified against counterfeits,like checking for the authenticity of luxury vehicle parts,paintings,drugs,foods(chocolates)etc.
Authentication of original products against counterfeits is based on a microscan and the corresponding A-ID.
Art Verification
With the Art Verification via Nanolense, Authoreon takes on art forgery head on, which results in millions of dollars in loss. Art connoisseurs, artists, gallerists,courts, museums, auction houses and insurance companies can officially declare an artwork as an original by adding a unique-like-a-fingerprint optical-surface-scan of the artwork to the asset during the A-ID creation
Authorized Retailer Verification
To complement the verification of original products we believe it is important to enable consumers to also verify the authenticity of a retailer by allowing the brands to selectively authorize their respective retailers. The retailer would display his A-ID in his (online or offline) shop and the consumer can scan for which brands the retailer was authorized.
Identity Verification
Reputable retailers can undergo a identity verification with Authoreon and display their A-ID within their profile or legal notice page,all to improve consumer trust in the product.

Identity Verification especially for the cryptosphere where projects like exchanges can verify traders and users etc
Supply Chain Tracking
Track and trace is defined as the process of identifying past and current locations of inventory items, which should be trackable at any level from ingredient to finished product – and anywhere in between. These processes are supported through the A-ID, that helps to provide real-time information on both location and status of items as they move throughout the supply chain.
Ownership Chain Tracking
In order to provide a holistic track and trace solution, the A-ID offers to keep track of the history of resell items through the ownership chain.
