Akaash & Tanisha Sharma (Entrepreneurs)

Born in Australia, Akaash Sharma’s first job was in his family’s food distribution business—All Asian Foods.

“I learned the ins and outs of the business. I worked for about a year overseeing the warehouse operations and then progressed to the office and within six months took over the full operation of the business,” says Akaash.

In the business for five years, his key ventures would include the growth of the family businesses. “The growth of our distribution business involved an improvement and addition of all new equipment, vehicles and systems. We moved to a new warehouse almost twice the size which not only included more space but improved working procedures. Other key ventures include the boost of imports under our own brand names. Since then we have established these brands among our restaurant and food service clientele, and have recently begun supplying these in retail outlets,” he says, and adds that the single most important moment in his career in Australia was accepting the awards for grand champion on behalf of Sharma’s Kitchen after 20 years of work.

For Tanisha Sharma, it was always about the family business. “When I graduated I went to work in the family business—Sharma’s Kitchen. I worked in our manufacturing plant to get a proper understanding of the functionality of the business from the procedures used in packing and sealing products to the mechanics of the machinery equipment used in production. Then I moved to the office where I now manage all ordering, invoicing and general operations,” says Tanisha.
