Alpesh Prajapati (Entrepreneur)

Alpesh Prajapati came to Australia in 2004 as a student. Though the initial days in Sydney were difficult—and at times demoralising—Alpesh did not let the disappointments affect his desire to succeed.

“I give credit to my friend and mentor

Mr. Yaju Vaghela, who stood by me, encouraging and motivating me all along the way,” he says.

While working at a petrol station, Alpesh realised the lucrativeness of strata cleaning as a business venture and decided to start one of his own.

With guidance from Mr Vaghela and assistance from friends, Alpesh started out on his own with one van and limited equipment. Today he owns eight vans, has an office in Old Toongabbie and a cleaning business that covers over 170 strata properties. “Today I am a successful businessperson, something I had never thought would be a possibility 14 years ago,” says Alpesh.

He named his business RD Cleaning after his grandfather Ramaji Devaji, who he says is an inspiration. His company covers everything from strata and commercial cleaning to gardening, soft landscaping, fire services and pest control.

Alpesh enjoys reading books and playing cricket when he has time off. He attributes his work ethic to his father who had always said that with honesty and consistency one can never fail. His advice to budding entrepreneurs is not to let anything or anyone dampen their spirits or slow them down.

The way I see it

Australia is... A country that recognises hard work and gives everyone a fair go.

I believe. “Winners don’t do different things, they do things differently”. It’s a quote from my favourite book, You Can Win by Shiv Khera.
