The Australian Boomerang or Throwing stick is a hunting weapon used by the Australian Aborigines people. The oldest Boomerang found was in a peat bog and dated at 10,000BC, and they have found rock art depicting the Aborigines hunting with Boomerang's that could be as old as 50,000 years old. The Boomerang and the throwing stick differ in that the Boomerang is designed to return, and the throwing stick does not. One of the hunting uses was to flush out waterfowl, and then the Boomerang would return. Originally made of bone, you can find them in wood, and carbon fiber.
