Williamstown, Australia
G'day Steemit Community! Today I'm sharing another beautiful suburb of Melbourne called Williamstown.
Williamstown is located 9kms west of Melbourne CBD and was Victoria's first settlement in 1803 by Acting Lieutenant Robbins and later John Batman who traveled down the Yarra River. Prior to English settlement it was home to the Wurundjeri People of the Koolin nation who are Australia's first nations people.
Williamstown was home to the Australian Navy in World War II with many ship yards still located in the area. Up until 2017 Williamstown was still home to Naval manufacturing.
Today many of the ships and ship yards have been transformed into living museums which allow people to explore the past. One of my favourite ships is the HMAS Castlemain which is a former WW II Australian Navy Ship which is now permanently docked at Williamstown Habour for people to board and explore.
Williamstown is also home to one of Australia's oldest shopping strips with many cafes, bars and restuarants with beautiful views of the bay.
I decided to get a big breakfast at a well known Cafe called Tik Tok which was delightful and the coffee art from the barista was great!

Williamstown is a wonderful Australian suburb that's pnly a 10 minute train ride west of Melbourne CBD and if you're ever planning on visiting Australia I would highly recommend making a pitstop in Williamstown and experiencing the rich culture and history this wonderful Australian suburb has to offer.
