The chicks are vulnerable to hunting dogs causing reduction in numbers up in Qld.
This reduces the spread off seeds of certain flora.
The existing tree roots are eaten by boars.
The lack of tree roots cause soil errosion.
The soil runs into the sea covering the reef and is one of the main causes of coral destruction.

It is amazing how the reduction of a species in an area can have such a huge knock-on effect of the ecology of not only the local area, but of a much wider environment. We often only look at what is close by, not realising the far reaching affect we have elsewhere.
