Baishuitai, also known as the White water Terraces of Shangri-La, located in the foothills of the Hub, 101 km South-East from the County of Shangri-La. Nestled on the slopes of a height of 2,400 meters above sea level, the terraces white water stretches on 160 meters wide and 140 meters in length, making them the largest limestone terraces in China. Water from the peaks of the Mountains of the Hub, seeps down to the higher terraced pool, and then flows to the pool below, which is filled before overflowing to the next pool, and so is the chain, until the water reaches the outer rim of the last of these terraced pools.

The pools themselves were formed over time by the erosive action of the acidic water, which in former times were rich in minerals of limestone, creating a special environment for such a miracle of nature.

Besides being a beautiful scenic natural attraction, the White water Terraces of Shangri-La is also the birthplace of the national minority Dongba knucksie. According to legend, the first Saint Dongba was attracted by the breathtaking scenery of this place on the way back from Tibet. He stopped there and began to spread their beliefs. Since then, people regard Water Terraces Baishui as sacred. Every year, on the eighth day of the second lunar month, people naksi gather here to celebrate their traditional festival, singing and dancing day and night.
