"Why I'm Not a Conservative" Is Still the Best Essay on "Conservatism" vs. "Liberalism" vs. "Libertarianism"
Lew Rockwell's copy of Hayek's Why I Am Not a Conservative
The Cato Institute's copy of Hayek's Why I Am Not a Conservative
The work linked above places the terms "Liberal" and "Conservative" in their real Historical and Philosophical contexts, and asks "How do we move forward from here, given the material reality that has led us to this point?" Hayek's perspective was scientific, consequentialist, realistic, strategic, and secular, so he remains my favorite "Austrian" economist.
That's a pretty dense read... might I dare posit a one sentence summary: "Reality has a well known liberal bias" ??? Or something like that.
