Water in the sky #1: entry for Abandoned Shit contest

I was thinking the other day to make a series of aerial photos to all the water towers I come across as I photograph the still existing abandoned communist and post-communist giants around Romania.

Hearing about this contest that @customnature initiated was the perfect start.

This is a view to one of the corners of a former, communist, industrial platform that used to produce raw materials for the siderurgy industry. Around 4000 people used to work here during it’s prime. A small socialist town was built in pretty much, the middle of fucking nowhere for this. Still, this is one of the small scale industrial development projects that communists managed to keep it running back then.

Now, it’s either partially leased to different companies, part, like this one photographed, is isolated in a dark purgatory.

At different points in time I’ll be making some collages out of all these water tower photos. In fact, that’s my thought about collecting all of these: gathered in a bunch, at different moments of the day, different seasons, the ugliness they pose may form a brighter pattern in a picture.
