Building of first capacities started in 1936 (confirmed by the CIA in attached document) and the opening ceremony took place in 1937. After WWII aluminium industry happen to be main driving force of Sibenik economic growth till the early 1990's. It was conveniently located near Jaruga hydroplant at Krka waterfalls - one of the first multiphase alternating-current systems in the world.
