Oldest Aluminium factory in the Balkans - aswcontest
Here is my entry (photo and short article) for the contest named Abandoned Shit Weekly @customnature
Ruins of the oldest Aluminium factory in the Balkans
Building of first capacities started in 1936 (confirmed by the CIA in attached document) and the opening ceremony took place in 1937. After WWII aluminium industry happen to be main driving force of Sibenik economic growth till the early 1990's. It was conveniently located near Jaruga hydroplant at Krka waterfalls - one of the first multiphase alternating-current systems in the world. Krka-Sibenik was a two-phase transmission system in a time when London, Paris or Rome had one-phase systems (I guess guy named Nikola had something to do with it).
