Fortress Oreshek - one of the oldest in northern Russia.
In the photo taken last August, the ruins of the Petrine numbered barracks. The soldiers' barracks built in the beginning of the 18th century were rebuilt in prison at the beginning of the 20th century. Prisoners nicknamed this prison "Zverinets" (menagerie), as from the corridor the prison cell were separated by bars.
This building not destroyed from antiquity. The garrison of the fortress fought steadfastly during the Great Patriotic War. The fortress could not be taken, but during the artillery bombardments, many buildings inside the fortress were destroyed.
Now these are not such abandoned ruins, about which everyone has forgotten. In the fortress there are a lot of tourists every day. On the walls, caring signs "Do not enter the building. Possible collapse."

На фотографии, сделанной в прошлом августе, руины Петровской номерной казармы. Построенные в начале XVIII века солдатские казармы были перестроены в тюрьму в начале XX века. Заключенные прозвали эту тюрьму «Зверинец», так как от коридора камеры были отделены решётками.
Разрушены они не от древности. Гарнизон крепости стойко сражался во время Великой Отечественной войны. Крепость так и не смогли взять, но во время артиллерийских обстрелов были разрушены многие постройки внутри крепости.
Сейчас это не такие заброшенные руины, про которые все забыли. В крепости ежедневно бывает множество туристов. На стенах заботливые таблички «В здание не входить. Возможен обвал».
