Vintage baling-machine abandoned from another age
On a farm in the Western Cape , South Africa
I spotted this wonderful old vintage baling or threshing machine abandoned on a farm in the Sandveld recently. This is an area near the small town of Hopefield about a 100 km from Cape Town, South Africa. I'm not sure exactly what this piece of machinery was used for. Maybe someone can enlighten me as to the use of this old piece of farming equipment.
It's hard to believe that the farm could ever have had a wheat crop as the area is in the grip of a terrible drought at the moment.
Amazing that this old relic from another time still seems to have all it's metal parts. The scrap merchants have not yet laid their eyes on it.
