ASWCONTEST - Interiors - Abandoned city of Skrunda (Part 2)
So one week ago following the ASWCONTEST theme was posting the series of photos from Skrunda how its looking outside, covering the last week theme "Overgrowth"
New week, new theme and we can go inside to see some most visually stunning interiors of this "Lost City"
As that was sung in a famous USSR song - "And Lenin is always alive". Yes, at some point he still lives in a lot of places as a statue or placard or in this case on the wall of the building, which most probably was some kind of of a small concert hall for a soldiers and their families
For those who missed the story last week just a short reminder:
Skrunda-1, also known as Skrunda-2, is a ghost town and former Soviet radar station located 5 km (3 mi) to the north of Skrunda, in Raņķi parish, Latvia. It was the site of two Dnepr radar (NATO "Hen House") radar installations constructed in the 1960s. A Daryal radar was being built there before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Skrunda was strategically important to the Soviet Union as its radars covered Western Europe. The two barn-like radars were one of the most important Soviet early warning radar stations for listening to objects in space and for tracking possible incoming ICBMs

How very interesting. I recently visited the abandoned forest haven asylum and it was eye opening in a lot of ways. what society does to try and forget things...
