[Contest] Meet the Dark Side of History - my entry Abandoned Shit Weekly №.21 #aswcontest
Good Afternoon dear friends,
today I stumbled upon an amazing post by @hangin. His post is his entry into the "Abandoned Shit Weekly Contest". Read more about this contest by @customnature here. Well, I am a vintage guy, I was very inspired and this is my entry into the contest.
My husband and I love to explore forgotten places, abandoned buildings, and sites. Sometimes it's not that easy to get to some interesting place with history. Especially in Germany. Most sites are secured and fenced. But we love to explore and document these kinds of places for further generations. We love to keep history alive with our work.
We have some rules we strictly stick to when entering. Never touch, never damage, never take anything. Here I would like to show you a place that we found deep in the woods near Berlin in Germany. This place is abandoned for a long time and rarely somebody comes close to have a peek.

Meet the Dark Side of German History:
The private Mansion of Mr. Goebbels
Nazi minister during the times of
Hitler's Third Reich
First, I would like to give you my personal opinion on history.
I truly believe that it is not wise to bury the past, not wise not to talk about the past, not wise not to tell this part of history. Especially this dark chapter of German history. It has to be told for many reasons. Many Germans are afraid of speaking about what happened during the Third Reich. But HOW can young Germans learn about history first hand then? How can they learn about all this evilest time in order to never allow it to happen again?
Instead of turning many German buildings of that time into a memorial with a warning to future generations, many buildings are kept in the darkness and you will never know they still exist.
Some more very personal words:
I LOVE unity and freedom, I hate separation! My Grandmother fathers side was captured and sent to a concentration camp by the Nazis during this dark era in history. She never did anything wrong in her life. She was Jewish.
Some photographs we shot there are not that perfect as we tried to photograph also parts of the interior through the windows. Sorry for the bad quality. It seems everything is still in original condition.

Below: Here you can see the panoramic windows that can be lowered down and stored in the ground electrically. Actually, they have been constructed by the same company which built the big panoramic window at Hitler's mountain house.

Yeah, what happened back then is really sad but covering it up wouldn't help the young ones learn. Its gonna help them stay away from making such mistakes. I believe other countries
too can learn from Germany...
Great rules there. But i am not sure i can go in there and step out without touching a thing😂😂😂. My hands love to touch and explore....
The place still looks nice, and its great that they do take care of it well. I think your picture quality isn't too bad...
Exactly @audreybits this is absolutely what I truly believe in!
Yeah, our rules ... ha, yes ... I think touching is not too bad. :)
xx
Hahahah! Sure, it isn't...
hihihihi
Shivers down my spine rolling along with your words. I'm thinking now of calling this "The Anutu Fever". You're an awesome writer.
Thank you so much @ravijojla, my Lady of elegance and grace! Amazing words, what a gift you made! <3
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, this is so beautiful @ravijojla - so so touched .... <3
That is so crazy! I am always stunned when i come across an abandoned place that looks like it is still livable. The fact that this place is drenched in history makes it even more interesting.
I am so sorry your family went through the hell they did. This was such a dark time in your history. I am glad you are here.
