Great experience at TechCrunch Blockchain in Zug Switzerland

in #asure6 years ago

We had so much fun at TC Sessions: Blockchain Conference on 6th of July and during the Ethereum Meetup on the following day in Zug, Switzerland. Now we’d like to share our thoughts with you.

We were pleased with the exceptional speakers, number of guests and the highest level of the organization altogether.

Networking and lunch.

TechCrunch’s editors managed to bring top figures in the blockchain world to the stage. Each of us had plenty opportunities to network and to chat with experts after their talks.

Our highlights
Paul had a great chat with Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance. When Paul asked what the top criterion was, according to which binance decides whether a token is listed or not, CZ replied: “It must be a good asset”.

In a personal conversation with Rune Christensen and Søren Peter Nielsen of MakerDAO we found out that one of MakerDAO’s goals is to support all FIAT currencies worldwide, which from Asure’s point of view is an important future interface between crypto and the real world.

Jim Fruchterman has informed us that benetech as a non-profit company also supports social technological projects in the blockchain area. We think this is cool and would like to refer to their work on social projects.

Matt Peterman and Paul had a chat about the successes and progress Insurepal has made so far. We will learn from these experiences and thank Matt very much for his outgoing manner.

We particularly liked the ideas and views of Streamr, the main sponsor of TechCrunch: Blockchain Sessions 2018. If you look at the example of data that cars will provide us in the future, there are different approaches to who can own this data: the user, the car manufacturer, the provider of the systems.
Streamr’s approach is that the data belongs to and retains the rights to the user. We at Asure agree with Streamr and believe that data marketplaces like Streamr.com, where users can sell their data, especially for Pay-As-You-Live insurance products, can have great potential in the future.

What we would also like to mention is the impressive Proof Of Concept of Platin, which Allon Mason introduced to us at the end of the first day. Based on Proof Of Location Platinum wants to enable air drops of coins all over the world, for example to reward people who help in crisis regions. We like this social approach of Proof Of Location and wonder what impact this technology can have on the insurance industry in the future.

Vitalik Buterin, Karl Floersch and other people from the Ethereum Foundation were able to introduce us to the ideas for scaling the Ethereum platform in a funny and enlightening way. We were very happy to connect with so many people from the Ethereum scene on the event!

In the evening after the first day we went to the inauguration party of the Web3.js Foundation office. We were provided with free drinks, great live music, great company, and were able to meet a lot of new exciting people.

All in all, we can say that the city of Zug is a very beautiful city and we really enjoyed our stay there and on the event.

See you all on DEVCON4 and hopefully D1Conf in Prague from 29 Oct — 2 Nov!

Asure contributed to the event by acting as a sponsor.
