The biggest stars in the universe - #11steemCreated with Sketch.

Our corner of the universe is really quite calm and balanced, but in other places there are objects so huge that with them our entire Solar System seems to be just a small pollen.

Here are the greatest stars in the universe:

11 - UY Scuti

UY Scuti - the largest known star to us - is a red, variable supergiant found in the constellation Shield, about 9,500 light years from Earth. It has a diameter of about 1708 diameters of the Sun, and its volume is 5 billion times greater than the volume of our star, and it is one of the brightest stars, shining 340,000 times brighter than the Sun. When placed in the center of the Solar System, its photosphere would even absorb Saturn. Perhaps its size will be easier to imagine on such a comparison: if the Earth was a ball with a diameter of 20 centimeters, the sun would be 22 meters in diameter, while UY Scuti would be 38 kilometers long.
